Sparkles Detailing

What Is Detailing?

Detailing is more than just running your car through the local car wash, having a quick valet service or cleaning it yourself with a sponge using off the shelf retail products. Detailing a car is thoroughly cleaning both inside and outside, taking many days removing contaminates on the bodywork. Paint is measured in microns using a digital thickness gauge to safely remove swirls, scratches, oxidation and other imperfections from your paint to produce a sparkling show quality level of detail.

Trained and developed over many years a competent detailer will have the equipment, experience and expertise to transform a vehicle into a “masterpiece”. As a fully trained valeter/ detailer Richard is fully trained and uses the best products to deliver a highly recommended and recognised service. With over 14 years of experience working on many show winning cars ranging from daily driver maintenance packages, through to classic car preparation and restoration Richard is able to offer a service to suit all. With a vast knowledge of products for all areas of a car Richard stocks the best products to care for your vehicles paintwork, interior, engine bay, wheels, tyres, exhaust, and convertible roof – the complete package!

Wash Process
This is the foundation to our Details, using the most natural products available. Firstly we pre wash the lower half with a citrus degreaser, the oils in the citrus break down dirt and we rinse the dirt away. Next we apply a snow foam (usually hp neutral) this has a clinging action and we let it dwell on the paintwork and it slowly lifts dirt, while this happens we use a soft brush to clean the hard to reach areas. We then rinse again. Next it is time for our wash process using 100% sheep wool wash mitt and two buckets with grit guards. The first “wash” bucket has safe non wax strip shampoo (usually hp neutral). The second “rinse” bucket contains clean water. During the wash process we keep dipping our wash mitt in the rinse bucket this removes all dirt on the mitt, then back into the shampoo solution. This insures no dirt or dirty water ever touches your vehicle. We then rinse again and dry with a quality drying towel (no blades)

Wheel Cleaning
Wheels are cleaned with a variety of soft brushes with an acid free wheel cleaner which contains no harsh chemicals, this insures no damage will be inflicted on your alloys.

De taring / Iron removal
We will apply two cleaning agents separately. The first which will remove road tar and any adhesive marks on your bodywork, this product slowly breaks down any infected areas and is safely wiped away. The second is an iron remover to remove all fallout on the bodywork, which changed colour as you use it.

Claying
We will apply a clay bar agent solution to the bodywork, which acts as a lubricant for the clay, we then gently rub the clay across the surface of your bodywork. This will remove bonded contaminates from the surface of paint, leaving the paintwork silky smooth and ultra clean.

Measuring The Thickness Of The Paint
We will use our paint thickness gauge on every panel to determine how much paint your vehicle has, this will tell us if the panel has been re-sprayed at any time, but more importantly if we can machine polish it without causing any damage.

Masking Off Trims
We use automotive tape to protect sensitive areas of the vehicle insuring no polish will mark or stain any plastic or rubber surface.

Correcting Paint
Using one of our machine polishers we can correct defects in paint. We first use our digital paint measuring gauge, this measures how much paint is on the bodywork. When we know this we can select what polish and pads to use to safely remove any defects on the bodywork such as holograms, swirls, faded paintwork, marring, light scratches and cobwebbing. This can take many hours sometimes up to a week to complete to achieve a crystal clear finish.

Pre Wax Cleaning
Paintwork fully cleansed using a pre-wax cleaner with a bonding agent which helps prepare the bodywork for the wax/ sealant

Waxing/ Sealant
When all cleaning and refinement work has been carried out we apply the final last stage product. This will be either a carnauba wax or premium sealant. The carnauba wax is the most natural product made from the leaves of palm trees, which adds amazing depth and wetness to bodywork as well as long lasting protection.

Wheel Care
We will seal your alloys with a special wheel sealant. This will enhance the gloss of your alloys, protect them, reduce brake dust build up, and makes re- cleaning them much easier.

Interior
Interior lightly vacuumed, windows and mirrors cleaned. Foot rests, pedals and kick marks on the back of front seats cleaned, leather wiped. Door panels, door shuts and dashboard cleaned. Centre console and door cards cleaned, ash try cleaned and emptied. Air freshener applied.

Finishing Touches
We will polish and protect all metal and chrome work, glass cleaned and polished, tyres and trim dressed and protected, rubber seals protected, door hinges cleaned and protected.
